How Renown Works

Renown represents a character's reputation and fame in the game world. It is calculated as:

Renown = CHA modifier + (level - 1) + sum of adjustments
  • CHA modifier: Derived from your Charisma score
  • Level bonus: (level - 1), so level 1 characters get +0, level 3 characters get +2
  • Adjustments: Sum of all renown changes recorded in the ledger

This calculation happens dynamically, so if your CHA changes or you level up, your renown automatically updates.

Renown Bonuses

Your renown determines bonuses on carousing and reaction rolls:

Renown Bonus
3 or less No bonus
4-7 +1 bonus
8-11 +2 bonus
12+ +3 bonus

Permission Model

  • Players can modify their own selected character's renown
  • DMs (with active initiative) can modify any character's renown by name
  • Anyone can view any character's renown
